Next Step

Last year, I started my journey in The Odyssey Scholar Program with a vision in mind.

I aimed to create and operate a successful fashion blog that focused primarily on informing young women about the latest fashion trends and providing style inspiration. I wanted to become a social media influencer with a large audience and presence on various platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc.)

However, upon researching the fashion industry, I found that there is a huge crisis with sustainability. I discovered that each year, more than 15 million tons of textile waste is generated in the United States alone. It is exceptionally rare that major fashion companies attempt to minimize their carbon footprint. After noticing this trend, I studied the financial drawbacks of sustainability.

Last semester, I compared business models of successful fashion companies. I studied various marketing and branding strategies and observed how they contributed to the success of a company.

Throughout the year, I remained well versed in current fashion trends. I watched countless fashion shows and religiously followed designers.

Utilizing all my research and newfound knowledge on the business behind the fashion industry, I aim to create an in depth, well organized, and thorough business plan for a fashion company of my own. I will explore customer segments, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, value propositions, cost structure, key resources, key activities, and key partners.

I am excited to take the next step in my journey and explore what it means to be an entrepreneur.

As a wise man once said, “Fail fast, fail often, fail forward.”
