"This Is Me" Endometriosis awareness Fashion Benefit
Before school ended, I had an idea to raise money for Endometriosis, but I didn’t really think too much about it. My idea was a fashion show to raise awareness and funds for this disease. I have been modeling for the past two years so fashion shows are something I love to do, and know a lot about. And that’s why I came up with the idea of combining a fashion show for awareness for this disease. I brought the idea up to my family and my mentor, and they both loved it.
So at the end of May, we started creating plans and advertising the show. We had two model calls which was one of my favorite parts of this process. After the model call, we started having rehearsals so we could make the show the best of the best. In the midst of rehearsals, we were also looking for a venue, designers, vendors and sponsors. Of course, this came with challenges. Some designers were iffy about committing to the show due to the fact that a 17 year old girl was organizing all of it. A month before the show, a designer dropped out, and we frantically had to find another designer to fill his spot. This was one of the most stressful things, but it was all part of the process. Finding sponsors was a bit difficult because I didn’t have a 501C but our biggest sponsor was ELITE OSM, which I had previously worked with while I was starting out with my Odyssey Program.
I will say, planning an event in 2 1/2 months was a little stressful and always frantic, but it was truly amazing and I had so much fun planning it. We had over 200 attendees which is more than I would have ever imagined. I was able to raise over $1500, and that will be donated to the Endometriosis Research Center in Florida.
We had an amazing outcome, and I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone who was involved and attended the show. Below, I attached a picture from the night of the show with myself and all the models! :)
